Blair Hills Community  Meeting    - September 20, 2011

Members present: Annie Wilson, Barbara Carson, Mim Shapiro, Rosalie Kirsch, Jonathan Melvin, Shirley Hellman, Cheri Sakai, Kerri Payne

The meeting was opened by Annie Wilson. The minutes were read by Barbara Carson and were approved as read.

Picnic- Annie read the flyer that Antoinette handed out at the picnic that invited people to participate on the Beautification committee.  The Picnic committee was praised for their work. A good time was had by all. A discussion followed about how to get more neighbors to attend. Kerri stated that more personal contact is needed. Jon, Rosalie, and Kerri agreed to meet Saturday, September 24th at 10:00 a.m. to update telephone numbers and e-mail addresses.

Traffic Update - Jon reported that Gabe Garcia said that the bids for the BH project were too high, and they will have to be submitted again.

Jefferson Street- Mim shared information about groups that plan and create murals  with participating high school students. They also organize areas for clean-up activities. It was moved and seconded that Mim will contact Dave McNeil to speak to us at the October or November meeting about clean-up and beautification of Jefferson. The motion carried.

Landscaping and Safety- Cheri stated that the bougainvillea behind the condos are growing on the LaCienega side and this hinders walking on the sidewalk on that street. Barbara will report this to the Condo Association. Kerri stated that homeowners can be reminded in the BH meeting notices and newsletter that it is their responsibility to keep sidewalks clear of shrubbery, overhanging trees, etc.

Jon will ask Denise F. to speak at a future meeting about plants that grow well and are suitable for yards. She knows what kinds of plants to use and which ones need less water. Jon will also share his experience  with solar power with the group.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m. The next meeting will be held October 18, 2011 at 7:00p.m. at the KH Community room.
