Co-President Kerri called the meeting to order at 7:05
Announcements
- Free
bicycle registration this Saturday with the Culver City Police. Look for
more information via e-mail.
- Due
to the increase in home burglaries there were special presentations
to help home owners deter burglars
Special
presentation by Sgt. Kellum with the Culver City
Police Department
- Crime
statistics reported in Blair Hills included 3 home burglaries in the last
6 weeks
- Burglars
smashed and pried windows open to get into home
- No
arrests have been made regarding the burglaries
- There
have been no street robberies and no vehicle burglaries
- In
the last year there has been an increase in residential burglaries
- Generally
these burglaries occur between 1:00-3:00pm and are caused by
teens and young adults
- Sgt.
Kellum recommends investing in a decent safe,
locking all doors and windows when you leave, do not have valuables in
plain site, photograph your valuables, lock
gates with a code lock.
- Contact
utility companies with your gate lock code
- Interact
and know your neighbors - you will be more aware of strange cars
- Minimize
your conversations with strangers - bluff them with "I have guests
here"
- Always
call and report suspicious activity
- Call
911 or the general number 310-837-1221
Special Presentation by Glen Cruz with Cruz and Cruz electrical
- Light
is a deterrent for burglars
- Install
"motion activated lighting" in a location that cannot be
tampered with
- Place
lights in vulnerable entry points
- Cruz
provides Photocell activated lighting, Timer switches, and landscape
lighting
- Cruz
will provide free estimates to Blair Hills residents
Special Presentation by Richard Castro and Winston Fuller with ADT
- Homes
without alarm systems are 3 times more likely to be burglarized
- Do
not hide keys outside, do not post on social media when going on vacation
- Things
homeowners can do: Hook smoke detectors up to a monitoring system, buy a
fire extinguisher, invest in a carbon monoxide detector
- ADT
has a custom homes division with concierge number
- ADT
offers safety, security and camera systems, as well as vacation services
- Alex
from Protection One was also handing out information

Business
- US
Bank will begin charging for paper statements and Kerri proposed moving to
e-statements to avoid the maintenance fee
- It
has been moved and seconded to change to e-statements
